Indigenous Hospitality Employment Project 2010 -Expressions of Interest to Host a Workshop

Cross Cultural Consultants (with a sub-contracting relationship with CHARTTES Training Advisory Council) is running a series of workshops designed to support employers with their commitment to increase their Indigenous workforce.

Half day ‘Working with Cultural Differences’ and ‘Internal Mentoring’ Workshops have been scheduled for Darwin. There are opportunities for employers to host these half day workshops, with the major benefit being that your management, supervisors and staff complete the training at the same time and without leaving your workplace.

Certificate IV in TAA for Training Young People

YouthJET is launching a new training division called YouthTrain, who are offering discount training to young people and those who work with young people.

They will be running Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, with a particular focus on how to train young people. The course can be done externally from anywhere in Australia.

2010 E-learning Funding Now Available

Registered training organisations (RTOs) in the Northern Territory are invited to apply for E-learning Innovations funding and support to implement innovative e-learning solutions for businesses and students.

Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) Revoked

On 8th February 2010, the Federal Minister for Immigration and Citizenship announced that the Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) has been revoked. A new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) will come into effect mid 2010.

It is expected that this will affect Hairdressers, Surveyors and Accountants as the new focus will be on occupations within the Health Sector. Read more   

TRAINING PACKAGE UPDATES

Holiday Parks and Resorts (SIT07 v2)

The recently endorsed Holiday Parks and Resorts qualifications have now replaced the caravan park operations and management qualifications which are contained in THC04 Caravan Industry Training Package.

THC20404 Certificate II in Caravan Park Operations has been replaced by SIT20509 Certificate II in Holiday Parks and Resorts

THC30404 Certificate III in Caravan Park Operations has been replaced by SIT31209 Certificate III in Holiday Parks and Resorts

THC40404 Certificate IV in Caravan Park Supervision has been replaced by SIT40809 Certificate IV in Holiday Parks and Resorts

THC50404 Diploma of Caravan Park Management has been replaced by SIT50409 Diploma of Holiday Parks and Resorts.

THC04 is now being managed by Manufacturing Skills Australia.

Sport and Recreation Review

Sport, Fitness and Recreation is quickly moving forward, with the Certificate III and IV in Fitness content now almost finalised. The Diploma of Fitness content of the SIS10 Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package will be available on the Service Skills Australia website by the end of February for public comment.

A number of Outdoor Recreation units are now in final draft and available to view on the Service Skills Australia website. The remainder of the units are currently being reviewed by industry peak bodies and subject matter experts for feedback.

A free monthly report on what's new in the Australian Indigenous tourism industry is now available to tourism stakeholders. Talk Blak includes current Indigenous tourism trends, developments, success stories and case studies along with statistics and analysis relating specifically to Indigenous tourism in Australia.
