Industry defines the knowledge and the skills required by a person to be competent in the workplace (known as competencies, competency units, units and sometimes standards). A Training Package is the grouping together of the training components designed to assist in achieving the competencies for a specific industry. Units of competency are packaged together which, when combined at various levels, can form qualifications (for example, Certificate, Diploma and the like). To ensure consistency in the delivery of the training and the demonstration of competency, guidelines for assessment are included. In addition, resources to support the delivery of a Training Package have been developed. These may include learning materials, learning strategies, trainer guides, assessment guides, professional development materials for trainers and the like.
