Members may be aware that the Chamber is represented on the NT Board of Studies (BOS) whose mission is to develop and provide high quality curriculum, assessment, reporting and certification to students in the Northern Territory from Preschool to Year 12. These requirements also include VET studies in Years 11 and 12. The BOS meets quarterly and reports to the Minister for Employment, Education and Training.
The next meeting, scheduled for Friday 23 May, will be considering the issue of VET studies as part of the NT Certificate of Education. The Chamber has been tasked to present to the Board on the issue of employers' expectations off the VET training provided in Years 11 and 12. VET in Schools is defined as "programs that are undertaken by school students as part of the senior secondary school certificate and which provide credit towards a nationally recognised VET qualification." Members are invited to complete the short one minute survey here.
