New Apprenticeships:
New Apprenticeships combine practical work with structured training to give people a nationally recognised qualification, and the experience they need to get the job they want.

New Apprenticeships are a great way to build a career. No matter what industry a person is interested in, New Apprenticeships provide attractive and flexible training options, such as school based and part time apprenticeships.

New Apprenticeships training has been designed by industry for industry. The training can be delivered on-the-job, off-the-job, or a combination of both. Off-the-job training is done with a TAFE College, Business College, or other approved Registered Training Organisation.

VETis:
Vocational Education and Training in Schools is an education initiative for secondary school students based on partnerships between industry and education.

VET in Schools programs provide another option for all students to consider. These programs give students an advantage when seeking employment, as they will have already acquired some of the skills necessary for working in a particular industry area. Many of the skills acquired will be useful for a wide range of careers and work options.

Students who undertake VET in Schools programs should do so as part of their broad general education program that combines the Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE) with all, or part, of a nationally recognised VET qualification.

Training Packages:
Industry defines the knowledge and the skills required by a person to be competent in the workplace (known as competencies, competency units, units and sometimes standards). A Training Package is the grouping together of the training components designed to assist in achieving the competencies for a specific industry. Units of competency are packaged together which, when combined at various levels, can form qualifications (for example, Certificate, Diploma and the like).

To ensure consistency in the delivery of the training and the demonstration of competency, guidelines for assessment are included. In addition, resources to support the delivery of a Training Package have been developed. These may include learning materials, learning strategies, trainer guides, assessment guides, professional development materials for trainers and the like.

Visit the Dept of Education Science and Training website for more information about training packages, or go to the National Training Industry Service website.
