Indigenous Hospitality Employment Project 2010 - Expressions of Interest to Host a Workshop

Cross Cultural Consultants (with a sub-contracting relationship with CHARTTES Training Advisory Council) is running a series of workshops designed to support employers with their commitment to increase their Indigenous workforce.

Half day ‘Working with Cultural Differences’ and ‘Internal Mentoring’ Workshops have been scheduled for Darwin. There are opportunities for employers to host these half day workshops, with the major benefit being that your management, supervisors and staff complete the training at the same time and without leaving your workplace.

CHARTTES Training Advisory Council is the principal advisor to the Northern Territory Government on Vocational Education and Training Matters for the Tourism & Hospitality, Sport & Recreation and Arts & Entertainment industries.

An exciting opportunity exists for a person to join CHARTTES and lead a small dynamic team in a vibrant and challenging industry and training environment. 

In this role you will be responsible for all operations of CHARTTES business and managing key stakeholder relationships and contracts.  You will have demonstrated management experience and have strong communication skills with an attention to detail.

The changes were supported by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG)  at its meeting on 7 December 2009.

The NQC advises that implementation will be completed by March 2010.

Productivity Places Program aims to assist job seekers to acquire skills and gain lasting employment and assist existing workers to update or upgrade their skills. Funding is provided to registered training organisations to deliver qualifications in a range of industries and levels. Industry can benefit from the program by:

•  Up-skilling existing employees;
•  Re-skilling existing employees;
•  Providing a formal training pathway for people who have worked in an industry for a number of years but do not hold a qualification; and
•  Employing job seekers who have gained industry qualifications through PPP.

Escan 2010 Underway

IBSA's Environment Scan (Escan) underpins their advice to governments and other stakeholders on skills and workforce development issues across our six industry sectors; Business Services, Cultural and Related Industries, Financial Services, Education, Information and Communications Technologies and Printing and Graphic Arts.

Escan 2010 will be a detailed, evidence-driven report, which presents qualitative and quantitative analysis of the skills in demand data and information within the context of the broad social, demographic, technological, economic and labour market environments.  It will analyse change, evolving trends and new factors influencing workforce development, including emerging cross-industry issues.  

Escan 2010 will address the following key areas:

• skills and workforce development priorities for IBSA's six industry sectors
• priorities for TP continuous improvement activities, and
• apparent or emerging skills issues at the sector and cross sectoral levels.
